UCSF MISSION BAY/ LRDP

UCSF/Mission Bay is swiftly becoming a new San Francisco neighborhood with 6,000 new residential units and 30,000 new workers who will change the face of this waterfront industrial district. With more than 300 acres—a ten minute trolley ride from the heart of San Francisco’s financial district—at stake, expectations are high for a vital urban neighborhood with firm commitments to affordable housing phased along with market rate units.

Prakash Pinto, (as Urban Designer and Design Principal with Perkins+Will) has been involved in the planning and urban design of
the area for the past 14 year and has helped structure a series of public workshops aimed at developing design guidelines for the next 20 to 25 years of development. As a redevelopment area Mission Bay required a full array of standards, guidelines, and development agreements, a totally new infrastructure, and an extensive public open-space network.

Prakash Pinto Partnerswas also the Urban Design Principal for the recent UCSF Long Range Develpment Plan that looked at all the major campuses for UCSF in order to accomodate significant growth for the university over the next 15 to 30 years.
